I’m an independent journalist, podcast producer, and editor based in Potsdam, Germany. Over nearly four decades in radio, print, and digital media, the questions that drive me have stayed the same: what’s happening in our region, our country, across Europe — and how do you tell those stories in a way that genuinely reaches people?
In 2010 I founded my editorial office Mitten in Medien to do exactly that work, on my own terms. Since then I’ve produced podcast series, features, and editorial projects for public institutions, universities, and cultural organisations across the Brandenburg-Berlin region. My subjects are regional history, European politics, and economic affairs.
Current projects include five podcast series: Wenn Bücher brennen – Potsdam 1933 for the Moses Mendelssohn Centre, Brandenburg talks EU: Krass europäisch! for Europa-Zentrum Potsdam, and Mach es in Brandenburg for the IHK Potsdam (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), among others. I also write science journalism for Portal Transfer, the research magazine of the University of Potsdam.
Before going independent, I was an editor, head of the Federal & Foreign Affairs desk, and foreign correspondent at Hundert,6 – Das Berlin Radio (1998–2006), and later editor-in-chief of the KOMPASS magazine for the German Multiple Sclerosis Society Berlin (2011–2017). As a member of the Bundespressekonferenz (Federal Press Conference) I interviewed federal ministers, chancellors, and five Nobel laureates.
My work has received two prizes: the European Parliament awarded Best Broadcast Contribution in 2000 for my radio series “Wir in Europa”, and the anthology “Angekommen in Potsdam”, which I co-edited, received the City of Potsdam Integration Prize in 2021.
I live and work in Potsdam.
